My name is Allison Cisco, and I am an undergraduate student attending SUNY Binghamton for my bachelors in biology.
Mainstream media typically tends to ignore any scientific advances that don’t result in a catchy or click-attaining headline, and I think this is a grave disservice to the community. Just as we hear about a Kardashian getting a new handbag or a new scandal among government officials, we deserve even more so to hear about advances in research and technology that can affect and improve our daily lives.
I’m hoping to write mainly about biology, though other branches of science may tie in (they’re all intertwined, really). What I really hope to do is to explain scientific advancements in simple terms, because technical, jargon-filled journal articles can be downright intimidating to the average reader. At the exponential speed that scientific advancements are being made in the current day, I hope to be able to summarize some of the most important ones and discuss the impact that they may have on us as a national and global community.
All very interesting!
